Owned by the City of Phoenix, Papago is an excellent public course that was given an extreme makeover in 2008. The par-72 layout boasts improvements all around, from the greens and fairways to the bunkers. And even though many of the long-standing trees were removed, Papago retains its reputation as a challenging, scenic golf course. What also makes it so appealing is its central location. It's within three miles of Crowne Plaza Phoenix Airport and a 15-minute drive from downtown.
