Arizona Angioma Alliance Walk

We are organizing the Angioma Alliance Walk and silent auction honoring twins, Kendall and Kaydence. This fundraiser will benefit the non-profit organization Angioma Alliance, the only patient and research organization supporting those affected by cerebral cavernous angiomas. Kendall and Kaydence Aguilar are identical twins who have both been diagnosed with Cerebral Cavernous Malformations (CCM). We are hoping to raise funds to find treatments and even a cure to this life-changing disease before it causes more damage to these young girls. \ A cavernous angioma is a raspberry-shaped abnormal blood vessel in the brain that can hemorrhage and cause strokes and seizures among other things in both children and adults. People with hereditary forms of the illness can develop many cavernous angiomas in a lifetime. Currently, brain surgery is the only treatment. Angioma Alliance is working with researchers to develop medications that will prevent hemorrhage and, for those who have hereditary forms, prevent development of more lesions.\ At only 17 years old these identical twins have suffered from brain hemorrhages and lingering effects. They have both had craniotomy surgeries performed by Dr. Michael Lawton at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona in the last year. They have the familial form of CCM1 and several other lesions we will need to keep a close eye on for signs of hemorrhage. At this time our only option will be another brain surgery to remove bleeding lesions as long as they are operable.\ Funds from our walk will be used to support Angioma Alliance’s DNA and Tissue bank, a patient registry, an international scientific meeting, and the development of clinical centers of excellence. We are driving research toward a cure! \ Come out and walk for FREE. Raise $35 and get a free tee-shirt. We\'ll have food, kids\' activities, and a silent auction, all to benefit the Angioma Alliance in our hope for a cure. Enjoy a nice leisurely walk with the best people in
