Rae\'s 2nd Annual Hike for Hearts

RaeRae of Light is a 501c3 nonprofit that exists to raise awareness for babies born with Congenital Heart Defects. 1 out of 100 babies are born with a congenital heart defect. CHD’s not only impact the patient, but the entire family. While medical advancements continue to improve, there is currently no cure. Some families may be hospitalized for several months. Providing financial assistance can go a long way for these families. Our mission is to offer individual financial support to these brave heart warriors and their families in their journey fighting this horrible defect. Our primary program is to provide financial support to low-income families with medically complex children by assisting in qualifying services such as medical bills, housing payment assistance, food, clothing, utility bills and other necessary medical supplies. Additionally, we partner with medical facilities to provide immediate necessities for patients and families of those awaiting heart surgery or heart transplants. Additionally, RaeRae of Light is a Qualified Charitable Organization. \ \ We host several events each year to raise money for babies and families impacted by CHD. Our Annual Hike for Hearts event, typically attended by 150-200 Community Members, will take place on December 11th, 2021. This event is for the entire family, and in addition to the Hike, it will include a games, face-painting, food and raffle prizes. \ \ The recipients of funds raised during the event are all medically complex children who due to their complicated medical history, suffer from a variety of other conditions brought on by their diagnosis. Examples of these are learning disabilities, PTSD, sensory processing disorder (SPD), feeding issues, speech and language impacts, neurological disorders to name a few. These additional disorders begin from birth on through childhood to adulthood and require a multi- disciplinary approach.
